Laparoscopy Bioskills Rental Equipment
Laparoscopy is a surgical diagnostic procedure used to examine the organs inside the abdomen. In a laparoscopic examination, a surgeon makes a small incision and inserts an instrument called a laparoscope that contains a small lens and lighting system to magnify and illuminate the structures inside the abdomen. Light is transmitted through fiber optics to the end of the laparoscope that is inserted into the abdominal cavity through a device called a trocar. As it moves along, the camera sends images to a video monitor.
Common laparoscopic procedures include diagnostic laparoscopy, general surgical procedures such as appendectomy (appendix removal) or cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), and gynecologic procedures such as hysterectomy (uterus removal), tubal ligation (sterilization), and myomectomy (fibroid removal).
